"Wolfgang and I talked frequently in the preproduction process of my film about how he felt about the story I wrote, and the mood of music and ideas he had. He was always available for back and forth comments and suggestions throughout the entire film. He not only is a great composer but is efficient in sound effects and ADR as well. Wolfgang's experience in music is evident in the original ideas he would constantly come up with that I never even thought about. It was a great learning experience for me and I hope to go further in sound and music in my next film after this great learning experience with Wolfgang."

It was a pleasure working with Wolfgang Lackner on my sci-fi movie "Passengers of 7D." He beautifully conveyed the emotional journey of my main character and the underlying ideas of my story. I felt that he was genuinely interested in my project and that is a gift for an independent filmmaker. We worked long distance and Wolfgang was easy to communicate with, stayed in touch with me, and delivered music that greatly enhances my film. I would happily recommend him to anyone in search of a professional composer.

"I found the process of working with Wolfgang creatively exhiliarating. He always sought to understand the subtle nuances of a scene, and would provide suggestions which breathed greater life into characters than I thought possible. He brings a technical proficiency and rich musical heritage to his work that rivals the great composers of this generation."

Brandy of the Damned: The Music of Wolfgang Lackner
I have been listening to the final original music for Shroud during our many mixing sessions and I have to say, Wolfgang Lackner's score is professional, powerful and eerily beautiful. Music is one of those things that is so critical to the tone and mood of a film, that to demote it to a lesser composer is an invitation for failure. I know several independent filmmakers who say "Oh, I wrote and directed my film -- and I even did all the music." Yeah, well, it often sounds like it.

Wolfgang is a composer of the first rank!

Any movie, be it short or feature length, needs a voice to tell the story. Part of it is visual, an amalgam from the vision of the writer and director coming to fruition due to the hard work of the cast and crew, with the other part being in post when the score is added. If the two don't work together, there will be no impact and the film will have had it's voice diminished. Wolfgang Lackner has scored my last 3 projects and I couldn't be happier. Between his deep understanding of the mood in each scene and his versatile style, each production has been amplified and taken to the next level of perfection due to his music.

Music Review on "The Projectionist"

Feature Film by Intuition Pictures

First and foremost, "The Projectionist" can (and should) boast of having an impressive original score composed by Wolfgang Lackner.  During the Q&A after the screening, the biggest positive audience response to the film was the music.

“Wolfgang is an exceptional composer. He did a phenomenal work on the orchestral arrangements for my Midnyght Storm CD. He was able to take my visual images for my piano compositions and build on that foundation to further bring out the unique personality and character of each piece. Wolfgang is a man of his word and is able to meet even the toughest of deadlines. He is open to direction and suggestions regarding the orchestral arrangements and is a great team player. I definitely look forward to working with him again on all my upcoming music CDs and projects. I highly recommend Wolfgang for any music project.”

“Wolfgang is a talented composer and did quite a job on composing the score for our film! Music provides the emotional baseline for a mainly visual medium, and he did a wonderful job that helps take the vier on a rollr-coaster of emotions. I look forward to working with him again on upcoming projects, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him in any capacity.

Wolfgang Lackner's compositions for the documentary "Harp Tree" were perfect on the first try, adding emotion in appropriate areas to this personal Holocaust story.  His intuitive compositions are only superceded by his professionalism and positive attitude. He met all deadlines and stayed in communication with me during the entire creative process, which is extremely important when working on deadline for a client. I am extremely pleased with his creations and look forward to working with him again in the future.

I really enjoyed working with Mr. Lackner on my documentary film, "Beach Drive: Public Rights and Private Property", because he understood what I wanted despite my bizarre descriptions of sounds and emotions. He was great to brainstorm with, always prompt with deliverables, and has a fantastic sense of layering and timing."
